This Wildwood family had a kitchen that no longer fit how they lived each day. Their cooktop’s built-in pop-up vent wasn’t strong enough, the wall ovens were housed in a drywall enclosure that limited storage, and the elevated bar on the island reduced usable counter space. They wanted a kitchen with better function, a cleaner look, and improved daily usability.
The clients were referred to Lakeside Renovation & Design by Dan’s brother, who previously completed a kitchen remodel with us. They trusted our process, communication, and craftsmanship, making their decision straightforward.
Designing a Heart of the Home That Fits Their Style and Budget
Because this family came through a trusted referral, conversations were easy from the start. We walked the space together and talked through their priorities: stronger ventilation, more accessible storage, and a unified design.
Our team recommended adding a utensil pull-out to free up counter space. To help achieve their color palette without stretching the budget, we suggested Marsh cabinets for the perimeter and Showplace cabinets for the island.
Tile selection became a creative moment. The clients loved a white backsplash tile priced per piece, which raised overall cost. To balance the budget, we introduced a light blue hex tile for the desk area. It tied the wall, base, and island cabinetry together and added character.
After considering a few options, the homeowners chose to focus solely on the kitchen, knowing these updates would greatly improve how their home functions.

Ensuring a Solid, Long-Lasting Installation
During demolition, our team uncovered uneven subflooring in one room. To ensure long-term stability, we removed and reinstalled the subfloor before new flooring went in. Hood vent considerations also required close coordination, which Jon managed with the homeowners to keep the project moving smoothly.

One of the most meaningful parts of this project was ensuring the home’s frequently used office area stayed fully functional while feeling intentionally connected to the new kitchen. Rachel integrated it beautifully into the design so the entire space feels cohesive.
